The turning of a new millenium was marked with destruction. Debris from a thousand batteries plummeted to earth from orbit as a shower of mayhem, bringing with them the Cradles which held most of humanity. In the wake of the destruction, a new path was opened to mankind, promising a future for mankind - outer space. The resulting space race reignited inter-corporation fighting, and the League was torn apart. Old allies joined forces, and the resulting war brought forth new corporations rising from the ashes.
Sigmund Thermidor rose to power shortly after reestablishing the prior-defunct Rayleonard corporation, moving their base of operations from Canada and in to North America. They took Old Peace City back from the world, and rumor has it that a large installation connects theburied skyscrapers deep beneath the ever-shifting dunes.
Alongside Rayleonard's return, Infinitum Industries came in to power from the merger of several Aldra, Technocrat, and Torus assets, and quickly became a powerful corporation in their own right. Though they haven't made too much of a name for themselves, they show an aptitude for playing the gameruthlessly, and so far have yet to not turn a steady profit on any of their endeavors.
The appearance of two new major players in to the fold has sparked even more controversy, and as a result, even more warfare. Now, there is a new frontier for battle - outer space, and NEXTs have been upgraded to suit zero-G environments as well as in-atmosphere engagements. This marks a new erafor Armored Core technology, and one that will likely be the most devastating yet. The rules no longer apply - anything goes, and it's a free-for-all with everyone being a potential target. Not even Collared is safe.
